Whether you’re in the workforce or still a student, there aren’t many devices more useful than a calculator.
While we all have calculators on our smartphones today, sometimes a great scientific calculator can’t be beaten. However, with so many on the market, it can be difficult to know which one to buy.
That’s why we’re here! Below we’ve chosen the five best scientific calculators around in 2021, to help you decide which to use. Keep reading to find out which they are.
Rating the Best Scientific Calculators
When deciding on the best calculators, we considered a number of different factors. From price to range of functions and ease of use, we’ve thought about it all!
1. Casio FX-260 Solar
Kicking off our list is Casio’s FX-260 Solar calculator and for good reason.
It’s easy to use and isn’t too expensive, and it can perform 144 functions while showing up to ten digits and two exponents. It’s solar-powered with a battery for backup too and has a hard case for extra protection.
However, it’s probably better suited to students doing middle school or early high school math, or professionals in careers where the most complex calculations aren’t as necessary — there’s just a one-line display.
2. Texas Instruments TI-36X Pro
Perhaps the highlight of the Texas Instruments TI-36X Pro is the MultiView display. It shows four lines, whereas most scientific calculators will show just one or two.
There are all sorts of functions available to you, while expressions and equations look the same on the display as they would in a math textbook.
Whether you need a calculator for math at school or college, where a sig fig calculator is always useful, or for work, this is a great option.
3. Casio 115ES Plus
Next up is another Casio calculator, the 115ES Plus.
This calculator includes over 280 functions and forty metric conversions too, while there’s a sizeable display to make using the device easier.
It has a multi-replay function and a protective cover that slides on and off and is great for students in particular.
4. Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS
The second Texas Instruments model in our list, the TI-30X IIS is one of our top scientific calculators, and for good reason.
It’s reasonably priced and has a two-line display so you’ll be able to see the results and the data you’ve entered at the same time. Fractions? No problem.
If you’re looking for a calculator for a student, the TI-30X IIS is sure to please everyone as it comes in a wide range of colours and is pretty light too — it won’t weigh down their bag!
5. Casio FX-300ES Plus
Another calculator with a two-line display, the FX-300ES plus will show you up to ten digits, and you can have up to eighteen levels of parenthesis too.
This Casio model can carry out 240 functions, and there’s a useful auto-replay function for when you want to check your previous calculation too.
It’s solar-powered but contains a battery too, so you’ll always be able to use it, and it comes with a hard case, so it’s unlikely to get damaged in the hustle and bustle of daily life.
