The institute is located in Delhi. It was established in 1962. Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Delhi comes under Ministry of Food. It was the second institute to be set up under the ministry. First institute to be established under Food ministry was Dadar Catering College, Bombay –now known as IHM Mumbai.

This institute is located in Hyderabad. It was established in 1972 as a Food Craft Institute, IHM Hyderabad. This was a joint venture of Government of India and Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Further, the institute has been upgraded to the Institute of Hotel Management in 1984. In the year 1986 it was then affiliated to National Council for Hotel Management, Catering Technology, New Delhi. This is located in Bengaluru. Christ University started its Hotel Management Department in 1991.
