Although it’s not what I’m most thankful for, I appreciate the break I get from work this time of year. It allows me to spend time with the people I love the most! COVID has been a huge problem these last few years—I haven’t been able to see any of my relatives. This year, though, things seem to have gotten better, so we’re all planning on driving to my parents’ house for Thanksgiving. We’re going to celebrate and eat a whole bunch of turkey together!
My Wife, Son, and Parents
My wife and son are everything to me, and I don’t know what I’d do without them. My wife has always been my rock and supported me in every endeavor. My son is the light of my life—I would do anything for him. Watching him grow up and learn new things every day makes my heart swell with love. He is such a kind, intelligent boy, and I’m so proud of who he has become!
My parents have always been there for me when I need them most. They raised me properly and were always there to listen. I haven’t been able to see them as much as I’d like in the last couple of years, so nothing will make me happier than seeing them this Thanksgiving!
Getting to See My Family After Years
I’m just as thankful for my extended family. I’ll be able to see them all and let them know how much I appreciate them when we’re together! This is going to be an incredible holiday for us. I’m so looking forward to spending time with them and eating delicious food!
Helping My Parents in the Kitchen
My parents always make a feast on Thanksgiving! They prepare the ham, turkey, and all of the side dishes. They even make the desserts from scratch! Their food is simply scrumptious.
I always feel bad about how much they break their backs for us, so I try to help them out as much as I can. This year will be no different—I’ll do whatever I can to make their lives easier and lighten the workload!
My mom is a dessert master. Her pumpkin pie deserves to be world-famous and served in only the best restaurants! I’m sure that she’s going to make it this year, too. I can’t wait to taste!
My dad, on the other hand, prepares the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had. They’re really something special—he makes the gravy from scratch and cuts all of the vegetables, too. He even peels the potatoes himself!
With so much delicious food, I’m going to need a male facelift to look younger and thinner!
How We All Spend Time Together
We have a tradition every Thanksgiving: after the meal, we gather in the living room, play board games, and watch TV. In particular, we love the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a parade that is almost 100 years old! We look forward to it each year; it is almost always my fondest Thanksgiving memory.
We also watch the Thanksgiving football games. I’m particularly excited about the Giants this year! Usually, I get very enthusiastic about the games, yelling at the television just like my parents and cousins do. This year’s matches should be the most exciting yet!
Toward the end of the night, we play card games and watch movies. We can always count on my dad to make some homemade popcorn with the perfect amount of salt and butter. Yum!
What are you most thankful and excited for this Thanksgiving?
