However, it is a relief for everyone that the seven-time NASCAR champion has been tested negative in both the final tests conducted recently. Besides, he also has the clearance to participate in the race on Kentucky Highway that is going to take place on July 12. It was a sad scene for every race lover when Johnson could not take part in the first race of the season that took place on July 3. It seems that his infection was an outcome after his wife tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
According to the reports of Hendrick Motorsports, Jimmie Johnson finally came out negative after tests conducted on July 6 and July 7. So, he will make a comeback as a no. 48 Chevrolet. Johnson’s record broke when he could not make it to the race held on July 3. Before this, he had the record of a maximum of 663 active starts, the best among all racers. The race that he was not a part of, took place at the Motor Speedway of Indianapolis. Johnson was the first one of the NASCAR league to have tested positive for coronavirus since the games resumed. The season restarted back on May 17, and this is supposed to be the last game season for Jimmie Johnson before he retires.

In an interview, Johnson says that he and his family are thankful for the incredible support and love from everyone. He added that it was the cooperation of everyone that helped them cope up with the tough situation. While Johnson’s infection was asymptomatic, his wife Chani got her tests after experiencing what she was assuming as seasonal allergies.
After Jimmie Johnson was tested positive, four more members under Hendrick Motorsports also tested positive. Fortunately, all four of them finally tested negative along with Johnson. Therefore, the no. 48 team will participate according to the usual roster in the upcoming race. After missing the brickyard 400, Johnson dropped to the 15th standing. He is still at 46 points excess of the playoff cutoffs.
