Anger is a normal response, and everyone gets annoyed and angry sometimes. There is nothing wrong with getting angry, we all do, but the real question is how you handle your anger. When you are angry the flight or fight response of your body is triggered, adrenaline is released, more blood flows to your limbs, and your mind works largely in impulse. This is no state to be making decisions and confronting people.
There are many stories of people making massive mistakes when angry. You may be wondering how you can control your anger. Well, here are some anger management techniques that you should practice to calm down and prevent anger.
Do Some Breathing Exercises
One of the easiest and most effective methods of instantly controlling your anger and constraining yourself from doing something rash is doing some simple breathing exercises. You should take three deep breaths and inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. This is a scientifically proved method to relax your mind and body. Remember, if you lose your temper, you lose!
Sit Down and Have a Glass of Water
The main idea when trying to control your anger is to do something that takes your mind away from the situation and calms you down. A very effective technique is to sit down and have a glass of water before you take any action. It significantly calms your body down and puts your mind in a better state for making a decision.
Stay Away From Alcohol
You may be thinking of having a drink to take your mind off the anger causing situation but remember, alcohol is not your friend in any situation, especially when you are highly emotional and angry. Alcohol is not the solution. If you do need some help in relaxing, cannabis is a better solution. Cannabis has a calming and soothing effect on your mind causing euphoria instead of numbness. You can use some weed shatter drug, which is a cannabis extract concentrate. It gives an instant and strong effect, making you happier and more relaxed.
Take a Walk
When you have a confrontation which makes you angry, try to distance yourself from the situation so that you can’t do anything rash. A very effective thing to do is take a walk. This way, you distance yourself from the problem and get some time to think and get perspective. This allows you to stay professional and solve the situation instead of fueling it further with anger and rash decisions.
Express Yourself But Not While You’re Angry
You should not let the anger linger and form grudges, you have to express yourself and your issue but in a civil and calm manner. When you are angry, take some time to calm yourself and express the reasons you are feeling angry in a calm and composed manner instead of bottling up your anger, which is not healthy in any way.
And, always stick to “I” statements as “I believe”, “I feel” and “in my opinion” when making your argument. This is the most healthy and professional way to express your problems without offending anyone.
