  • Should You Hire an Agency Recruiter?

Every growing business reaches a point where they need to hire a new employee to fill a role. In some cases, there are multiple roles to fill. This means writing multiple job descriptions, conducting multiple interviews, and preparing multiple employment offers. When a company reaches this point, they generally have two options: hire an in-house recruiting team to manage all the responsibilities or outsource the efforts to a recruiting agency. In-house and agency recruiters offer different skills and work in different ways. Read on to learn more about what an agency recruiter does.

What Do Recruiters Do?

Whether your company works with an agency or chooses to hire in-house, many of the responsibilities are the same. Recruiters are responsible for:

  • Posting Jobs: Recruiters need to write killer job posts to attract candidates. They also need to find relevant job posting sites.
  • Finding Great Candidates: Recruiters are responsible for sifting through hundreds of applications to find the right candidate for the job.
  • Interviewing: Recruiters are typically responsible for the initial interviews with the candidate. Typically, this is either a phone interview or an in-person interview.
  • Presenting Candidates: If a recruiter decides they’ve found a good candidate after the initial interview, they’ll then present the candidate to the company.

After this, the final decision on whether to hire or not is in the company’s hands. If they decide to hire, the recruiter may also be responsible for helping with some onboarding tasks.

What Does a Recruitment Agency Do and Why Hire One?

A recruitment agency is an outside firm that will go and find candidates for employers. Recruiting employees takes a huge amount of time and effort, and many companies struggle to find enough time and resources to do it on their own.

Additionally, many small companies don’t have the funds to hire in-house recruiters. And, if they only need to hire a handful of employees throughout the year, an in-house recruiter likely won’t have enough work to do.

Agencies fill a specific need, as they only work with companies when they most need it.

How Do Recruitment Agencies Work?

An agency will receive a list of vacancies from an employer. Then, they’ll place adverts on job boards and other places. They also keep an eye out for new CVs being uploaded on job boards, and in some cases, they’ll scour Linkedin to find qualified candidates.

If you ever see a job posting that doesn’t list the name of the company, then the posting was probably created by a recruiter. If someone were to go directly to the company’s website and apply, then the recruiter wouldn’t earn the commission.

Essentially, an agency recruiter acts as a middle man between the candidate and the company, and they do everything they can to send the company qualified leads.

Should You Hire an Agency Recruiter?

Now that you know what an agency recruiter does, it’s time to decide if your company should hire one. If your company needs new employees fast and doesn’t have the time to do recruiting in-house, then hiring an agency is the way to go.
