FLOWER CARE TIPS

You get a 7-day warranty on flower arrangements delivered via flower square.nl. The delivered flowers are of a good quality, so you can enjoy them for at least 7 days. Do you take good care of your bouquet? then you will enjoy it even longer and the flowers will bloom extra well. How do you care for flowers? This blog will tell you Flower care tip. Here are some flower care tips:

CUT AN ANGLE AND DO NOT LET LEAF INTO WATER

To remove bacteria, among other things, it is important to cut flower stems at an angle before placing them in the vase. Use sharp tools for this, preferably a knife and possibly good secateurs. If your material is not sharp, your capillaries will clamp off and the flower will not be able to absorb the water properly.

Make sure no leaves get into the water, as it will rot. Flowers cannot withstand polluted water. It is not necessarily necessary to remove thorns from roses. This even gives ‘wounds’ in which bacteria can settle.

Flowers finished blooming? Remove them, then you can enjoy the beautiful flowers for longer.

USE A CLEAN, APPROPRIATE VASE

Use a vase in which flower stems have room and make sure the vase is clean. Glass vases are generally easy to clean (dishwasher or wash with chlorine). Moreover, you can easily see whether the bouquet still has enough water. It is better not to use a crystal or metal vase, because the water gets polluted (more quickly) in them. Tip: put vases upside down in the cupboard, so they stay clean.

ADD CUT FLOWER NUTRITION

Cut flower food helps the flowers develop nicely and last longer. That is why it is important that you add the added nutrition, in the ratio as indicated, to the water. Make sure you add enough water; too much food in too little water ‘burns’ the flower stems! Special feeds are available for some flower varieties. Ask your florist about it.

TAP WATER IN THE VASE

Flowers do not need spring water; tap water is fine. The ideal temperature for this differs per flower type. That is why lukewarm / lukewarm water is generally recommended. Do you have a bouquet of a flower type and do you want to know the ideal water temperature? Ask the florist, like Blomster. Blomster is a online florist in Denmark, which sells Tørrede blomster to customers in whole Denmark.

If you add flower food, changing the vase water in between is usually not necessary. However, some flower species pollute the water very badly. Then it is advisable to change the water after a few days. Don’t forget to add new flower food.

DO NOT PUT FLOWERS ON A DRY, IN THE HEAT OR WITH FRUIT

Draft, heat and fruit cause flowers to age faster and/or to droop. So don’t put your bouquet in full sun, near the heating or fireplace or in a drafty place.

SOME MORE TIPS

A few drops of chlorine in the water will reduce the chance of bacteria developing. However, do not combine chlorine with cut flower food. Cut flower food also contains a bacteria-killing agent. Change the water every few days. New flower food is not really necessary.

Rinse the stems with clean water if you want to change the water after several. That way you don’t take any deposits and bacteria with you in the clean, refreshed water. Cut the flowers again so that the stems can optimally absorb water again. The flowers will be a little shorter of course.

A myth is that you should flatten or bruise the stems of flowers and then put them in the vase. If the stems are beaten flat or bruised, this promotes the growth of the batteries and your flowers will be shorter.
