Consider Construction

Consider working in construction if you like to do physical labor, and like seeing things come together from the ground up.

Construction workers take part in the active building of the infrastructure that people enjoy and use every day.

There are many certifications and licenses that can be obtained through this trade. From skilled labor, construction equipment, carpentry to worksite foreman, there are many positions in the construction field.

The average base salary for construction workers is $15.62/hour. With the base pay also comes overtime pay, health insurance, and 401k benefits.

Medical Positions

Some of the most in-demand jobs today are in the medical profession. Some of the medical careers in demand include becoming a registered nurse, physical therapist, physician, and paramedics.

There are many levels of entry and education in the medical field. Many will begin their healthcare careers with an entry-level of education and continue their education to work their way into other related careers.

Those in the medical profession may work in private practices, nursing homes, surgery centers, hospitals, or in the home health sector. For those who want to be of immediate help, becoming a paramedic, nurse or doctor in the emergency room may appeal to them.

Registered nurses report an average base salary of $32.72/hour.

For those who have a natural aptitude for wanting to solve problems quickly and care for others, the medical field is a natural fit.

Computer Programming and Engineering

The technology space continues to grow with each passing year. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that that software developers will see a 31% growth in their field by 2026.

There are lots of levels in this space that those wishing to enter the field can explore. From computer programming, which includes learning different coding languages, to developing software and applications for companies and customers.

The old stereotypes of being the IT-guy or needing to live in Silicon Valley to score a great job in this sector no longer apply, as many firms and companies are stationed around the country. Some work can even be done remotely.

Software engineers report an average annual salary of $108,335.
